Richard Lukey has been a Business Adviser and Business Coach since 2002 and set up Altamira in 2009. He works predominantly with businesses employing between 3 and 50 staff in the services sector & creative, digital and media sector with a focus on those who have enjoyed significant sales growth which has slowed in more recent times.

He started his career as an engineering student apprentice at Leyland Truck and Bus in the town of Leyland in Lancashire, going on to read Production Engineering and Production Management at Nottingham University where he obtained a BSc (Hons) degree. Whilst training he spent time in design engineering and bus marketing, working on the development and launch of the innovative Leyland National single deck bus.

Following graduation he was appointed as an export bus service engineer and was seconded to Caracas in Venezuela for two years, as part of a team overseeing the entry into service of a fleet of 450 Nationals.

Shortly after returning to the UK he was appointed Export Sales Manager for Africa at Leyland Cars based at Bickenhill alongside the National Exhibition Centre and travelled extensively, developing a network of national distributors and local vehicle assembly operations. He was in post for two and a half years before accepting the opportunity to work for his Lonrho owned distributor in Zambia.

For the next four years he set up and ran three new businesses in the Zambian Copperbelt region as part of the copper industry's supply chain and established an assembly line to produce Toyota Hilux 1-ton pick-up trucks in the city of Ndola.

On return to the UK he ran a PLC owned BMW dealership, a family owned Mitsubishi dealership and a privately owned Subaru, Isuzu and Skoda dealership, each for five years. In 2002 he started work as a business adviser, later becoming adviser manager working with a wide variety of businesses.

He is married and lives in Thorpe Bassett in North Yorkshire. He has been a member of Malton, Norton & District Lions Club – which raises money to support those in need in the local community – for over 25 years and has been Club President twice. In 2015 he was awarded the International President’s Leadership Medal for his work for the Lions on websites and social media. He became 2nd Vice District Governor elect for North Yorkshire, NE England & Scotland in November 2016.

Richard is a volunteer on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, a steward at the Methodist Church on Saville Street in Malton and a steward for the Ryedale Methodist Circuit. He is a member of York Professionals and an Associate of the Institute of Consulting.

John obtained his first degree in Typographic Design and later obtained an MSc in Marketing Management. Initially based in Brussels he was responsible for Marketing Communications at Cordis Corporation and four years later with two colleagues, set up a marketing consultancy - Bennett and Co - in Leeds.

After eight years in Leeds John became a business adviser, mentor and coach working in South Yorkshire and later managed a team of advisers who worked with creative and digital businesses. In 2006 he joined Cutting and Wear having previously been a non executive director of the business. Cutting & Wear is a supplier to the oil & gas exploration industry founded in 1968 with key export markets in the USA, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.

John was responsible for approximately 50 staff across sales and production from a total of 70 employees and in the 8 years he was involved with the business turnover increased from £2.7 million to £8.2 million and balance sheet net worth by more than 10 times.

John is married to Julie and lives at Holmfirth. He enjoys running, is a keen walker having completed the 192 miles coast to coast walk and is a budding musician.

Stuart is a self-motivated, hands on and tenacious person who likes a challenge and has the desire to help people find solutions to their business or organisational issues by taking an open and objective approach and looking for opportunities. He is a creative thinker, fosters change, embraces collaboration, a team builder and is committed to promoting the adoption and use of new and different technologies and the benefits it brings both personally and within businesses.

Stuart McFarlane has an extensive portfolio of business skills and experience that has been gained over the past 30 years working in both private sector and public sector organisations and running his own businesses. He has gained a wide knowledge base through a varied career in some of the top global technology companies and in economic development in the public sector in the following areas – account & financial management, sales & marketing, product & project management, training & team management.

Operating at management and senior levels in a number of companies, he is very well networked and has managed relationships at PLC Board and Chief Exec levels in both private & public sector organisations and with ministers in Government Departments.

He has been the Chair of Governors at a Technology College and has held a number of board member and non-executive director roles in various private and public companies. He is currently a Director of another business consultancy, sits on the Industry Advisory Panel for the Yorkshire Content Fund run by Screen Yorkshire that invests money into TV & Film production in the Yorkshire & Humber region and also a Monitoring Liaison Officer for Innovate UK, (Technology Strategy Board) reviewing financial investment in innovation projects run by UK companies.

A musician in his spare time and a qualified Coach and Mentor and a member of the ILM -Institute of Leadership & Management, IOD -Institute of Directors and Musicians Union.
